NOTE:

This game is currently in an alpha state and only has a few zones for the player to walk through and explore with a few enemies to encounter. THERE IS NO WAY TO 'BEAT' THE GAME. This build is more a proof of concept for a 3rd person zelda-like game.

Story

You're a big bro beetle and you were on a walk with your younger bro when all of a sudden a big bully bullfrog plops in and kidnaps your younger bro as a snack for later. Upon awakening you find an old beetle that points you in the direction the bullfrog went with your bro. Far off to the Stinky Swamp. He lends you an old wooden sword. Not much, but it's better than nothing. Time to do big bro stuff and save your 'lil bro.

Features

  • A multi-level world stitched together to form a seemingly big world to explore and fight baddies in.
  • Classic 'bump-combat'. Nothing fancy here, just make sure to stay out of harms way and attack enemies when you see the chance. Try not to touch anything dangerous-looking.
  • Hidden secrets like passageways to other areas. 
  • An upgrade-able sword with the help of some ORE and a friendly FIREFLY SMITH.
  • A dungeon for each biome with clues to find where your lil' bro is.
  • The Game is currently in an alpha state. The above features are my wishlist features I'm working on. Read the devlog and slap a comment down if that's your kind of reading!

Controls

Move your avatar big bro beetle with the LEFT ANALOG STICK and attack using your sword with the B-BUTTON. Jump with the A-BUTTON. That should get you started on finding your bro but below is a chart with secondary controls that you can use once you find the corresponding item.


Secondary controls: (aint no potions yet...)

  • Guard using a SHIELD with the SQUEEZE-TRIGGERS
  • Grab Items like the BOMB or POTION spawned in front of you with the GRAB-TRIGGERS.
  • Spawn a BOMB (if you have any) with the Y-BUTTON
  • Spawn a POTION (not implemented yet) with the X-BUTTON
  • PAUSE the game with the LEFT-HAMBURGER button

Feedback [CURRENTLY in ALPHA]

Any feedback would much 'preciated. I would like to mention that this project is something I'm moonlightin' so progress may seem slow at times. That being said..

Please consider donating if you enjoyed my 'lil game. I do plan on releasing the full game or at the very least a fuller demo by springtime, 2024. HOWEVER teamwork makes the dream work; and the more feedback i get, the less jank there'll be (im hoping) in the final game. 

Scope

Now I want to keep things real here and not over-promise anything. The final game will have: 3 biomes, each with its own dungeon. One of the dungeons being the final dungeon. This is to keep myself from burning out from a huge project and keeping the final cost of the game low. A win-win imo.

Installation

I recommend using Sidequest to sideload this .apk file onto your Quest headset. I haven't tested it on the Quest 1 so I can't say much for this app's performance for that headset.
